Apple Picking with Family – Family Fun and Memory Building

Last weekend Charlie and I met up with my niece Rachel, my sister Maureen, her husband and their girls in the SC mountains for apple picking and a picnic. It was a great family day! Maureen and I try to do this each year. I have already made a huge batch of applesauce and we are enjoying having fresh apples every day in so many ways. I am kind of obsessed with over night oats with apples, cinnamon, and peanut butter – so delicious! Every year Charlie tells me we have picked too many apples and every year we find we have not picked enough. Even when I have ignored Charlie and gone for one more peck of apples promising to store them in my refrigerator at work.

This year we opted for Bryson’s Apple Orchard and it was a great switch from the over crowded orchard we have been going to in  Blue Ridge. Maureen’s girls missed some of the trinkets and candy the other place sold, but Bryson’s definitely appealed to the adults! We will be going back next fall and will plan a family hike in the nearby parks. As a bonus, because it is less than an hour from Clemson our niece Rachel was able to join us. Do you have a favorite orchard or farm that you visit? Leave comments below.

I made myself some apple picking bags for the trip. Charlie suggested that I just use our grocery bags. He did not quite understand the desire for a cute perfectly measured half bushel bag!
