I loved Thanksgiving as a kid because we spent the day with good friends and good food. As I started my own family, Thanksgiving was also an opportunity for us as a family to focus on how grateful we are. We always go around the table and say what we are grateful for. This gratitude inventory does not need to wait for the Thanksgiving table. I find that when I take the time to start my day reflecting on all the good things in my life, I realize how good I have it. I am especially thankful for Charlie. He is really an incredible guy that I would not trade for anyone. Our boys would ask me who my celebrity crush is and before I could answer, say – and you can’t pick Daddy. It’s always been Charlie for me, he is my celebrity crush. So this month I am putting forward extra effort to show him how thankful I am for all that he does. I started off this first day of November with making one of his favorite dinners while using up some ingredients that were getting some age on them – I am talking to you cabbage and carrots! I made BBQ chicken drumsticks, slaw, and roasted potatoes. We enjoyed a relaxing dinner on our back porch enjoying this very late summery weather. Life is good.
